About

.

Ashley is a Broadway Musical fan, Bonus Mom, and Instructional Designer… in that order.

This Florida native, living in Germany, is a graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF); there she earned both her Bachelors degree, and a Master’s in Educational Technology. She began her career in online education and instructional design in 2012. In the years to follow she has worked with both youth and adults in the education, public, and not-for-profit sectors.

Her first post was an online English/Language Arts instructor at Florida Virtual School, the first online public school in the United States. This position nourished her passion for working with urban youth, and led her to her first Instructional Designer position, at the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice. During her time working for the State of Florida, she was introduced to leaders in the education field who exposed her to innovative ideas for information dispersal and global learning theories; which helped to shape the educator she is today.

Ashley’s talents are not limited to just instructional systems design, she’s also a Millennial, Microsoft guru, ukulele player, and avid reader; not to mention she’s an Air Force spouse, vinyl record collector, and novice seamstress. In her spare time she can be found volunteering for the Fisher House Meal Train, building websites for not-for-profit organizations, or jogging along a beautiful German outdoor trail.

“Creativity is intelligence having fun.”

Albert Einstein

As a designer, it is imperative that I consider the current systems, best processes, intended audiences, and desired performance outcomes when designing effective learning products.  I believe that any good instructional designer knows how to combine materials analyses, lesson objectives, course evaluations, student data, and tons of creativity to develop fun and informative educational materials!

My design philosophy stems from a love of technology, learning, and the arts. Starting at an early age, technology has been my avenue to creativity, purpose, engagement, and inspiration. With my MacBook, I dove into the intricacies of graphical user interfaces, HTML coding, and digital learning. This early life exploration led to an appreciation of technology, graphic art, online learning, and virtual communication. Armed with the understanding that technology is a tool that improves visual communication and optimizes outcomes, I sought a career that allowed me to use those tools to transform educational goals into vivid content that excites and motivates others to pursue lifelong learning.
